Just as machines are starting to understand natural language, the collective seems to have largely lost the ability to use it.

Grammar and spelling are foreign concepts. Expressing coherent thoughtsโ€Šโ€”โ€Šor digesting anything more complex than a TikTok reelโ€Šโ€”โ€Šis a challenge for many. Adults write with the handwriting of a 3-year-old and have a vocabulary worse than Clover the parrot.

Iโ€™m not much of a conservative when it comes to technology, but I feel like we need to address this. Itโ€™s sad to see, and I wonder where it will end.

On top of it all, there are indications that generative AI may be worsening critical thinking. Reports are also surfacing from the education field about declining student performance in classrooms. The future seems darkโ€Šโ€”โ€Šand we were already deep in the hole to begin with.

Have you noticed anything along these lines? Any thoughts or tips on how to turn the ship around?
