𝗔𝗿𝗲 𝘄𝗲 𝗻𝗼𝘁 𝘀𝗲𝗲𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗮𝘁𝗼𝗺𝗶𝗰 𝗯𝗼𝗺𝗯 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗺𝗶𝗻𝗲𝘀? ⚛️ 🖥️

I’m a bit concerned, and after last weeks events I have to share my thoughts.

Marcus Wallenberg spoke recently at Folk och Försvar about Swedens future, what needs to be done to remain competitive “…𝗔𝗜, 𝗱𝗮𝘁𝗮 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗽𝗼𝘄𝗲𝗿𝗳𝘂𝗹 𝗰𝗼𝗺𝗽𝘂𝘁𝗲 𝘄𝗶𝗹𝗹 𝗯𝗲 𝗮𝘁 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗰𝗲𝗻𝘁𝗲𝗿 𝗼𝗳 𝗶𝗻𝗻𝗼𝘃𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝘀𝗲𝗰𝘂𝗿𝗶𝘁𝘆 𝗴𝗼𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗳𝗼𝗿𝘄𝗮𝗿𝗱”. 

And we are, globally, on the verge of AGI and later ASI which will lead to an unprecedented speed of innovation and competitive advantage. Which is why the recent unveil of the $500 bn Stargate project in the US isn’t really a surprise. US and its stakeholders understand the importance of AI. They understand exponential growth. They understand that ASI is the atomic bomb of our time.

The US also understands the energy problem and they are building as fast as they can of everything; nuclear, gas, solar etc. What is clearly a bottle neck in Sweden for industry in general and in the world for compute clusters in particular, is access to enough energy. Energy demand for compute clusters will continue to outpace new capacity for the foreseeable future. 

So, in the light of the above, I’m a bit concerned that we aren’t seeing more urgency in addressing the two burning questions: 

𝟭. 𝗛𝗼𝘄 𝗱𝗼 𝘄𝗲 𝘀𝗲𝗰𝘂𝗿𝗲 𝗰𝗼𝗺𝗽𝘂𝘁𝗲 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝗦𝘄𝗲𝗱𝗲𝗻 𝗮𝘀 𝗮 𝘀𝗺𝗮𝗹𝗹 𝗻𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻
𝟮. 𝗛𝗼𝘄 𝗱𝗼 𝘄𝗲 𝘀𝗲𝗰𝘂𝗿𝗲 𝘀𝘂𝘀𝘁𝗮𝗶𝗻𝗮𝗯𝗹𝗲, 𝗮𝘀 𝗶𝗻 𝗰𝗼𝗻𝘁𝗶𝗻𝘂𝗼𝘂𝘀, 𝗽𝗼𝘄𝗲𝗿

If we are serious with our task of bolstering our defence and sustain our push for innovation. 𝗗𝗼𝗻’𝘁 𝗺𝗶𝘀𝘀 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗮𝘁𝗼𝗺𝗶𝗰 𝗯𝗼𝗺𝗯 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗲𝗻𝗲𝗿𝗴𝘆 𝗲𝗹𝗲𝗽𝗵𝗮𝗻𝘁 𝗻𝗲𝘅𝘁 𝘁𝗼 𝗶𝘁.
